Family Ties

Overview
Family Ties employs licensed-eligible social workers and counselors and Bachelor-level parent/behavioral aides trained in family preservation, mental health or substance-abuse treatment. All staff receive on-going training, both internal and from outside resources. Our clinical staff also includes licensed supervisors, Spanish-speaking counselors, interns and volunteers. A full time administrative/clerical staff exists to support each program and its clinical staff.

Family Ties continuously recruits for the following positions:

Social Worker
Under clinical supervision, provides intervention, assessment, counseling, case management and resource referral in cases of abuse, neglect and exploitation. Development of individual treatment plans. Monitors level of risk and takes appropriate actions. Observes, documents, and reports client behavior on an on-going basis. All counseling is community-based. Monitors the implementation of the family’s treatment plan. May function as a supervisor or lead worker for para-professionals. Interacts with DFCS, court systems, DJJ, probation and parole officers.

Requirements: Master’s degree in social work, counseling or psychology. Must be license eligible. Documented experience working with at-risk children and families.

Parent and Behavioral Aide
Under close supervision, provides a variety of para-professional services, including case management, community linkage and skill building. All services are community-based. Demonstrates, communicates, and instructs clients in parenting and living skills. Observes, documents, and reports client behavior on an on-going basis. Assists in and monitors implementation of each child’s individual treatment plan and performs crisis intervention. Interacts with DFCS, court systems, schools, DJJ, and juvenile probation officers.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, mental health, nursing, education, sociology, criminal justice, counseling, rehabilitation counseling, guidance counseling or an equivalent field. Documented experience working with at-risk children and families.

Assessor
Under licensed clinical supervision, provides individual and family assessments for DFACS. Assessments include Comprehensive Children and Family Assessments (recommendations for permanent or foster care placement), Home Evaluations (reviews of home, parenting and safety conditions for potential foster care parents/relatives) and Substance Abuse Assessments (determination and recommendations for drug and alcohol abuse). Use of industry-accepted assessment tools. Interacts with DFCS court systems, panel reviews, and probation and parole officers.

Requirements: Master’s degree in social work, counseling or psychology. Documented experience working with at-risk children and families.
